The 38/357 magnum needs an expander diameter of .356" or smaller to let the case grip the bullet tightly. This keeps the bullet for moving under recoil when fired in a revolver. The Full Length Sizing die must also do its part by sizing the case down a little more than needed, so the expander can open the inside of the case to the correct size.
