Lee dies taper then roll crimp. If the die is adjusted wrong, you will get a deformed bullet like on the left. The one on the right still has a mark on the bullet that should not be there.Other dies like RCBS come with the correct crimp style for the caliber. Handguns - Autos get taper crimped. Revolvers get roll crimped. Rifles get roll crimped if there is a cantilure on the bullet. Plated bullet have to be crimped very lightly, you can not break the thin plating.
